Derivation of data:
Citizenship at birth

The data on citizenship at birth in dn06 was coded according to the ‘Staats- und Gebietssystematik’ of the ‘Federal Statistical Office’ (Statistisches Bundesamt). This coding scheme was introduced into the ALLBUS program in 2012. The data from before 2012, was originally coded using an ALLBUS-specific coding scheme comprising 21 countries and the residual category ‘other country’. For this cumulative data set, this data has been recoded in accordance with the ‘Staats- und Gebietssystematik’, i.e. the ALLBUS-specific country codes were substituted with the appropriate STAGEBSYS codes. For the residual category ‘other country’ the special code 999 was introduced.
