It's both right. They've always had a tradition, but on the other hand they've used the Germans' knowledge when they got them. - Part/part, the Russians have good scientists generously founded by the state. - Part/part, basics from German researchers - Neither the Germans nor the Russians would have made it on their own. Equal share - Both part of it - Was only possible because of a systematic cooperation of Germans and Russians - In science one always has to do conjoined research and know about each others standard
